Installation & Care
Thank you for purchasing from Red, Wood & Blue. We hope you enjoy the game as much as we do. Every game is hand crafted in America from high grade wood and has it’s own unique character based on the natural shades and knots of the wood. Every product component is handmade in America and limited in production.
PICKUP HOOPS
safety first
Yes, safety always comes first. The board must be securely attached to a wall before play. “Soft’ dunking is Ok, but don’t hang on the rim. Hanging on the rim will be a sure way to break the board while ripping it out of the wall.
games
We contemplated adding a ”Rules and Game Play” section to your game set. We quickly realized anyone seeking limited and custom walnut basketball back boards is probably in tune with the rules.
board installation
Is there a Pickup Hoops height regulation? We’d suggest you mount the board at a height that works for you. We often find that mounting the rim at eye level works well. Be sure to pick a firm mounting surface and a height that is awesome for windmill dunks and deep 3’s.
care
We have utilized the finest furniture grade wood components. Our products should not be exposed to the ‘outside’ elements (rain, snow and moisture). Exposure to weather or moisture can cause damage to these high-end wood products.
1. Never use water or commercial cleaners on the wood surfaces. (I.e. Clorox cleaner, Windex, etc.)
2. To remove dust, use a clean and dry cotton cloth or old t-shirt. Avoid cloths with loose strings as these can get snagged on the wood.
3. Surfaces should be re-coated with boiled linseed oil yearly for maintenance. To re-coat, put a small amount of boiled linseed oil on an old t-shirt and apply to the board face in the direction of the wood grain. Wait 15 minutes and wipe off.
4. The wood will age and patina over time. Avoid storing in direct sunlight, as this will lighten the wood and dry out the finish.
CRICKET DARTS
safety first
Yes, safety always comes first. Cricket Darts has been designed for adult use only. The board must be securely attached to the wall before play. The darts have small parts that can be a choking hazard for kids. Our darts are really, really sharp, and should not be left hanging in the board. Please store the darts in the designated holders at the top of the board.
games
Darts have tons of game variations you can play. You have a Cricket Darts board that is limited to games that involve the bullseye and the numbers 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, and 15. We contemplated adding Cricket Rules to this section, but quickly realized anyone seeking a limited edition handcrafted cricket dart set is most likely in tune with the rules.
Our favorite game variation is - One-n-Done (aka) ‘Speed Cricket’ - The object is for a player to hit each number wedge once, in sequential order 20 thru 15, and the bullseye three times. The outer bullseye ring is worth 1 point and the inner ring (or double bull) is worth 2. Once a player has each number once and the bull 3 times, that player wins. The second player gets to finish their turn if the first player finishes the bullseye scoring.
game play
To start the game, each player throws one dart. This is known as the "diddle". The player whose dart lands closest to the center goes first. Any dart that does not stay on the board throughout the entire turn does not count. If the dart lands in any part of the laser etch line it counts as a direct hit to that number wedge or bullseye.
board installation
Sometimes the darts miss the board (ok..it happens), so never mount the dartboard near windows or other breakables. Mount the board where the space between the throw line and board is unobstructed and avoid high-traffic walkways.
care
Remember you are making holes in the board every time you play the game. They are permanent and add great character to your game piece, but the holes cannot be fixed, repaired or replaced. This is the nature of playing on a boiled linseed oil basswood surface.
1. Never use water or commercial cleaners on the wood surfaces. (I.e. Clorox cleaner, Windex, etc.)
2. To remove dust, use a clean dry cotton cloth or old t-shirt.
4. The wood will age and patina over time, avoid storing in direct sunlight as this will lighten the wood and dry out the finish.
